Essential oils are probably the best thing since sliced bread. They are incredibly useful for simple room scenting to actual therapeutic use on almost any condition you can imagine.
Throughout the year the types of essential oils used in the home usually change- from springy and allergy relieving, to fresh & relaxing, and finally to winter coziness. A few of our favorite essential oils in the winter specifically are Bergamot, Lavender, and Cedarwood.
Bergamot has a plethora of uses- specifically for this time of year as it is known to kill germs, eliminate odors, and it also is known to reduce tension and anxiety- making it a perfect pick for the holidays- especially when paired with the other two oils on our list; Lavender and Cedarwood.
Lavender is another one of our top picks for this time of year. Most people think of lavender as a summer or spring scent because it is a floral essential oil, however, lavender is a fantastic stress reliever for use with the hustle and bustle of the very busy holidays. In fact, its one of those essential oils that is good for practically anything- a truly universal use oil. From an antibacterial, to soothing burns, to treating migraines- Lavender essential oil has a multitude of uses and people swear by its incredible benefits- some even swear it works better than prescribed medicine (for migraines & as a sleep aid specifically) For all of these reasons it is a top oil to have any time of year.
Cedarwood is our final pic- an absolute classic oil for this time of year. There are many types of Cedarwood essential oil available- from Himalayan, to Pacific Northwestern and beyond. The type of Cedarwood oil we carry is the Virginian variety. Through our rigorous testing, we have come to prefer it to other varieties because it has a strong scent, without being overpowering- almost like you are standing right in the middle of the woods, plus it still has a high therapeutic value.
The soft woodsy scent makes a home smell very cozy and immerses you in a feeling of comfort, while the therapeutic value means it is also good for soothing coughs! We all know how harsh just a common cold can be in the winter, but with a few drops of Cedarwood oil placed in your diffuser, you'll be able to find some relief if a cold happens to catch up to you!
Each essential oil has different properties and can evoke a different emotion. On top of the three winter essential oil picks we named above, there are many, many, more to choose from for the holiday season- and we have them in stock. Stop on in and we'd be happy to help you create the perfect blend!
Our hope here at Waxhaw Candle Company is that your holidays are memorable, your belly is full, and all your essential oil needs are satisfied!
